I bought this from a charity shop – it was an impulse buy because it looked so sad.
I started by taking the lid off and doing my best to paint strip the remaining flaking paint and filling the chips.
Then I took a trip to Wicks to buy some paint samples. I chose colours that I remembered being used on Victorian Wrought Iron work in Birmingham Art Gallery and Museum. I have to say that I have taken a risk with this project as I used wall paint and then added 3 coats of satin clear varnish.
The plain sides have just been painted with Frenchic Dazzle Me. Gold edging is 151 Coats Gold Enamel.
The box is the size of shoe boxes – any idea what it should be used for?
