I had been looking for a chair for my home office that my cat would like. Previously, when I had been working from the dinning table he would sit on a chair next to me – a proper su-purr-visor. I moved to the home office and bought him a snuggly cat bed, but he didn’t seem to like it as it was too low for him to watch me.
Facebook Markerplace to the rescue and I found this piano stool which was really dirty, the upholstery was rotten – but for a fiver I was willing to give it a try. It was in a worse state than the photo suggested and I had to remove the upholstery even before I could take it into the house. Facemask on, marigolds on and stanley knife in hand I removed the fabric, noticing the filling was moving and as I looked closer it full of little bugs. Contents were scooped into a bin bag and knotted up.
I removed the lid for ease of sanding and painting.
Painted with Frenchic Al Fresco – Dazzle me and Ole Blue Eyes. Clear varnish to the front edge.
My mistake was with the foam I used for the seat = I cut it far far too square. The fabric is the same as I used for the lampshades and footstool for the home office.
I now have a happy su-purr-visor, who can sit and watch me, whilst also enjoying the sunshine coming through the window.
