This a fun project for hubby’s room. He had been collect bottle tops for a long time, many of them from Iron Maiden’s beer – Trooper, there were also some Motorhead beers too. Then lots of random ones.
I saw the cabinet on Facebook Marketplace for £10, solid Pine and it did really need any work.
I started by making a frame for the top in which the bottle tops would sit in. This was glued into place.
Then I mixed Dulux Heritage Soft Teal with a little Frenchic Al Fresco Steal Teal – make this duck egg colour. Hubby wanted to keep some of the natural wood showing, so only the carcase was painted and inside the cupboard. Later I also wallpapered inside the cupboard and drawer.
The door and drawer front was painted with clear satin varnish from Ronseal.
New cat knobs from Knobbles and Bobbles – there a 2 different designs used.
Bottle tops were fixed in place with sticky pads, so these would be easy to replace any bottle tops if they fade etc. I am still adding to the bottles tops, as we didn’t quite have enough.
Finally topped off with a sheet of clear Perspex.
