I have had the Ikea Kallax unit for 8 years and the white had faded to dirty cream. It was time to take the bull by horns and try to make these look fresher.
Carcass was painted in Frenchic Dazzle Me. Drawers Frenchic Hot as Mustard and Smudge.
New knobs added from Nobbles and Bobbles.
Then I sewed a piece of fabric to the front of the storage box that I already owned and made a new cupboard door using MDF, the same fabric and a Kallax ‘grill’ that I bought from Etsy. The fabric came from Textile Express in Oswestry (massive choice and very prompt delivery)
The nest of table were free from FB marketplace. I used the same paints as the Kallax, but mixed some Smudge with Dazzle Me to make the pale grey. Then finished off with 151 Coatings Gold Enamel paint. The tops were sanded and finished with 3 coats of satin finish clear vanish. I also swapped around the cupboard doors.
(Tip – The gold paint doesn’t keep well. Every time I have opened the tin to use it the consistency is more and more like toffee. )
