Custom Upcycled Wooden Furniture

Purple Chest of Drawers

According to the stamp on this piece is it Co-Op utility wear 1949. This means the piece was created whilst furniture was still on rationing. At some point it had a mirror attached, but that was long gone when Dad bought it from a charity shop about 20 years ago.

I started by sanding it down, but realised that under the white gloss was 4 other colours of paint. So, paint stripper in hand I took it back to the wood before painting.

This was another piece for my friend who loves purple.

The carcass was painted in the same Dulux Heritage Blueberry, but this time in eggshell finish. The drawers were painted with Frenchic Lazy Range Whitey White. Then wallpaper added to the drawers and the side panels of the carcass. I also removed the weird 3cm lip at the back of top and added a new bead which was also wallpapered.

Free from Facebook Marketplace I created a matching mirror. I honestly did not expect to spend near 2 hours getting the wallpaper on. This one was the steepest learning curve yet. Both friend and I are very happy with the results.
