Summer has arrived and so it was time to smarten the garden
Last year when I cleared away some of the over grown bushes I found some garden items that was rusty and unloved. I put these to one side until I had decided if I wanted to keep these or now.
My first was a ‘planter tower’ (I have no idea if this is the actual name) which after scrubbing it with a wire brush and sandpaper, I found out was originally from Laura Ashley. This I painted entirely in Frenchic Al Fresco in Cool Beans – then the acorn on the top and inset metal stem and leaves I painted with 151Coatings Metallic Gold. The gold was an weird to work with – it dried very quickly and for a short while went like toffee, but it dried beautifully.
Following on with the colour scheme I wire brushed, sanded with electric sander and hand sanded a very rusty bird bath, which was then painted with the Frenchic Al Fresco in Cool Beans – then the acorn on the top and inset metal stem and leaves I painted with 151Coatings Metallic Gold. (I can’t use a bird bath as there are too many cats,)
The next was 2 metal trellises with a branch and ladybird pattern. These were spray painted 1st with Paint Factory’s Shimmering Gold (3 coats) then once this was dry I painted the leaves in Frenchic Al Fresco in Victory Lane and 151 Coatings Gloss Pillar Box Red for ladybird wings and Frenchic Al Fresco in Blackjack (ladybird body). I really loved these when I was finished and so glad I didn’t take them to the skip.
1 metal chair – scrubbed with wire brush and then sanded, before being painted with Frenchic Al Fresco in Steel Teal.
2 wall lamps (both identical) sanded by hand and painted Frenchic Al Fresco in Cool Beans and 151Coatings Metallic Gold.
I have 2 chairs and a table left to do, plus fence panels – these are what I saved from my parent’s home when I emptied it. I’ll add these soon.
